Unit Summary
In this unit you will learn about the history of music genres. Many of us have a favorite type of music, but did you know that your favorite music has derived from other types of music genres? We will, for the next several weeks, look at where your favorite genres came from, learn how technology and research can help you find this information, and have some fun sharing what we have learned! Instructional Outcomes:
TSW select a genre of music that is not familiar to them using the Internet, Pandora, iTunes, Spotify, and/or othermusic programs.
TSW gather information from at least 3 sources: Internet, encyclopedias, magazines, books, videos, pamphlets, etc
(TTW instruct the students about the various electronic sources available to them for research as well as papersources)
TSW take notes on 5 different vocabulary words that they found in their research that they did not previously know. (Use Cornell notes format and dictionaries on/off electronic devices)
TSW write a rough draft from their notes in essay form using Microsoft Word or another word processor compatible with MSWord.
TSW edit, revise, and publish the information in essay form through paper and on the class Wiki Site.
TSW produce a visual presentation (pamphlet, flyer, power point, ect..). The presentation must also include a type of video,podcast, or electronic sample of their music genre.
TSW give an oral presentation using the visuals, music, and/or handouts.
